Outside these 10 goals, everything else is optional and should be tailored to the specific time, location, topic, and audience to which you are presenting.
- Get comfortable
- Your comfort is #1 priority
- Establishing this is the most valuable key to your success (this will become easier over time and must become routine)
- Know your topic
- Be the subject matter expert (SME)
- Be rested and ready
- Be familiar with the presentation area and any equipment being used
- Get excited about presenting
- Dress appropriate to the topic, the event and the audience (look the part)
- Stay hydrated
- Use the restroom prior to starting
- Be forgiving of yourself for any and all mistakes (don’t apologize)
