Core Insights from This Week:

This session shook more than just our Zoom connection—it dug into the core of boldness itself. We discovered that boldness isn’t about being extroverted or naturally confident. Instead:

Boldness is the supernatural result of prayer, Holy Spirit empowerment, and alignment with truth.

We wrestled with the tension of speaking truth while maintaining relationships, especially in Christian circles where honest faith-sharing can sometimes be met with discomfort or distance. One member opened up about being told his boldness in sharing the gospel was costing him friendships—and the group responded with wisdom, empathy, and a deeper dive into feedback, perception, and communication clarity.

Lessons & Real Talk:

Humor as Healing:
For those of us who lean heavily into seriousness, the challenge was issued: lighten up. Tell a funny story. Use humor to break tension and connect more deeply. (Bonus: we watched a hilarious story performance as a teaching tool!)

“What’s Your Banana?”
A powerful metaphor reminded us that we often have blind spots others can see (the “banana on your face”). Honest, loving feedback helps us grow—if we’re humble enough to receive it.

Sender & Receiver Model:
Communication is a two-way process. It’s not enough to send truth—you must also confirm that it was received with the heart it was sent from.

Boldness ≠ Harshness:
We explored how our delivery can be misinterpreted, and how to ask for specific feedback instead of vague criticism like “you’re not being loving.”

Homework Challenge:

✅ Record a humorous story from your life

  • Not a lesson. Not a sermon. Just a story meant to make people laugh—including yourself.
  • Use audio or video—whatever works. It’s an exercise in loosening up and learning to connect with people in a joyful, unexpected way.

Final Thoughts:

Boldness is obedience.
Feedback is a gift.
And sometimes, the greatest leadership breakthrough comes when you stop trying so hard to be understood—and start working to understand how you’re being received.
