The FDS Belt System is a public speaking training structure based on MSgt Carter’s personal journey. It takes students from beginner to advanced levels of public speaking, characterized by different belt colors. The program includes coursework, research, writing, and presentation delivery in various forms, with performance evaluations. It advances students from novice belts (Beginner, White, Yellow, and Green) focusing on overcoming fear and basic presentation techniques, to intermediate (Purple, Blue) and advanced belts (Brown, Red, Black) that focus on complex presentations and long speeches. The Black Belt, the highest level, can be achieved after four to nine months of dedicated training and certifies mastery of all speech delivery techniques.
