Outside these 10 goals, everything else is optional and should be tailored to the specific time, location, topic, and audience to which you are presenting. 

6. Establish the need for the topic (create desire)

  • What is the purpose?
    • New knowledge
    • Safety
    • Security
    • Lessons learned
    • Personal/professional development
    • Industry shifts
    • Worst case scenario 
  • Make the need make sense

They need to experience the adventure with you
