Golfing is public speaking and I’ll tell you why.
I’ve watched hundreds of golfers tee off. Out of those hundreds many hit terrible shots. After their terrible shot, their immediate response is almost always to make an announcement that the shot was bad because people were watching (I was watching).
An unmeasurable amount of pressure is placed on the golfer while teeing off because there was an audience!

Let’s be honest. That shot was terrible, whether it was witnessed or not.
Why does having an audience affect the performance of the golfer? That’s right! Fear!
Fear gets into your head and makes everything unpredictable.
Whether it’s golf or public speaking, you are only as prepared for the performance as you are when it begins. Getting rid of fear advances you past the zone of automatic failure and offers you a chance to truly shine. As long as fear has a say, your performance will undoubtedly suffer.
With golf and speech you have to get to the zone where you just don’t care the outcome nor who’s watching and that will render fear powerless. When you arrive there, you’ll finally be able to take advantage of your skills and abilities to truly give it your all with confidence. That’s when you’ll naturally draw a crowd!
